WAGNER WEEKEND
Sat 18th to Sunday 19th May 2013

Supported by Creative England

We dedicate a full weekend to celebrate the 200th birthday of the great composer, theatre director, polemicist, conductor Richard Wagner who was born in Leipzig, Germany on 22 May 1813. Dominating the world’s stages with his operas, later known as "music dramas", Wagner advanced the musical language to such an extraordinary degree that he is sometimes credited having started modern music.
