Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Elizabeth Garrett Anderson’s death this eye opening selection of silent films from the BFI National Archive shows how suffragettes were portrayed on the cinema screen while their battles were still being waged on the streets outside. Important, intriguing, unmissable. After the film there will be a discussion on women’s rights, past and present, led by Polly Trenow (formerly of Fawcett Society) with Karen Hester (Chief Operations Officer, Adnams) and Helen Taylor (Suffolk Feminist Society).

After showing of the film and a discussion on 5 October. there will be a discussion on women’s rights, past and present, with Dr. Lucy Walker, Director of Public Programming and Learning, The Red House, Dame Gillian Wagner, Chair of Banardos and Thomas Coram Institute, and Polly Trenow, campaigner on gender, economics and education.
